As it is based on Mozilla's browser, Firefox users will immediately feel at home with the Radical Software-developed Wyzo media browser. The developer called it a media browser instead of a web browser because Wyzo is intended to help you manage and download all sorts of media types. Downloads are accelerated and you can even download torrents with the browser (FireTorrent, a BitTorrent extension, is built into Wyzo).

Wyzo is available for Microsoft Windows and for Apple Mac OS X. The Windows installation file is close to 11MB in size. Download and run this file to be presented with a setup wizard that will guide you through the installation process. It must be mentioned here that the setup wizard will ask you to choose one of the two installation types: Quick Installation (includes the Wyzo core files, extra components, shortcuts, start page and search changes) and Custom Installation (pick and choose what you want).

The page you’re on is presented on the main pane of Wyzo interface. If multiple pages are opened, the tabs for each page are displayed in the upper left hand corner of the interface. In the same corner you will find the browsing buttons, URL bar, search bar, and traditional File Menu. It’s the same interface Firefox used before replacing the File Menu with the orange Firefox orb and before moving the tabs above the URL bar.

And speaking about Firefox, the functionality you expect to get from Mozilla’s browser is also offered by Radical Software’s browser: tabbed browsing, fast browsing speeds, hotkey support, find in page, bookmarks, history, private browsing, password management, and so on. The key difference is that Wyzo has been developed with the aim of helping you efficiently manage media and quickly download media from the web. Downloads are accelerated, a torrent client is built into the browser, and there’s a SkipScreen function that allows you to skip unnecessary pages on file sharing sites like RapidShare.

Wyzo takes the awesome functionality Firefox has to offer and adds a few extras to help you manage and download media as quickly as possible.

Pros

Wyzo is available for Windows and Mac. Firefox users will immediately feel at home with the interface. As it is built into Mozilla’s browser, it offers the same functionality as Firefox. Wyzo is optimized to help you manage and download media rapidly. Wyzo is free.

Cons

None that I could think of.
